This has become a flat staple for us! Barry's is reliable, quick and the food is always hot on arrival and tasty in the tummy!
Being a northerner it does upset me that they don't do gravy BUT I can by-pass that as their chips more than make up for it. They're chunky, not over greasy and once they have a bit of salt and vinegar on they go down a treat.
Their scampi are little bite size balls of heaven. Crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside - NOM.
And last but not least the saveloys - I'd never had a saveloy before I moved down south but my oh my they're good! Sure it's just highly processed meat but I don't care, I love them!
As you can tell I'm a Brit through and through and I love my chippy tea. True it's no northern chippy but it'll do for me! -

The cod was fresh and outside crispy. A lot of fish and good if you are very hungry. Great chips and tasty. I am a frequent customer and will come back.

Oh Barry, I wanted to love you. I was so excited to have moved in near a highly rated fish&chippy. But alas, it was not to be. Although the speed with which I got my meal was exemplary, sadly upon getting home the cod was overcooked and the batter had stuck to the paper with that special stickiness that comes from old old oil. The price I paid was £1.60 more than listed on the menu and the quality lower. Obviously, Barry, you're my local chippy so I'll be back, but I'll never be, alas, that brighteyed girl so full of hope as I was before.

Worst fish and chips ever!!
Seriously I've read some of the reviews and got excited but it was literally among the worst lunches I had in my entire life!
The chips were not fried on the same day, they were just warmed-up somehow (got completely cold mid-way and were everything but fresh or tasty...
The cod was absolutely horrible too, so badly oily and greasy that the tissue would stick to your hands like painting if you try cleaning them
The taste was as horrible!
And the service just matches it, they had three tables for eating in but they wouldn't have salt and vinegar in the tables, I had to go get the 1 set from next the cashier, for some of them to quickly come and take it back after I put some (they wouldn't come and bring me the cod and chips. they were not even busy: just one other customer, but they would come and take the salt and vinegar after I put some just once)
And it's not even cheap, I paid £6.4 for a medium Cod and chips.
Not one single element to the experience that wasn't horrible..!
Seriously just run away from this shop...
